Documentations by Tatiana Novikova, Jonas Gazell.
A sculpture coated in Vietnamese lacquer depicting the “Mountain of knives” from Buddhist mythology. A physical and mental border one must cross to find peace. The sculpture was exhibited outdoors in the city Umeå the year 2014 and was used as part of a performance for the exhibition “Ritual Ramblings”. The beginning of the performance/ ritual took place behind the mountain. I fiddled for a while trying to light a few incense sticks. Incense is crucial to initiate a ritual since smoke represents the portal to other worlds. After I have succeeded in lighting the incense I walked around the mountain to its front side to symbolise the crossing of the mountain. I then proceeded to walk from the mountain to the exhibition space in the gallery where the performance continued.
